Ethan, our Blockchain Product Manager, discusses key topics surrounding the launch of phase one of Project Artemis – our incentivised testnet.  In the podcast, Ethan touches on what exactly the project is, the purpose behind a public testnet, who has access to the testnet, and what you’ll be able to do on it.

This coming Monday, 20 September 2021, we’re launching phase one of our incentivised testnet, Project Artemis.

On the 10th of September 2021, our team joined a red carpet event at the Odeon Luxe, Leicester Square, for a special preview screening of the Cudos-sponsored UK sci-fi thriller Slammer. Our team and the other attendees were greeted by Odeon staff sporting white lab coats alongside a display of costumes and props from the film. This gave us an exciting hint of what was to come.

Here’s what we’ve been working on over the last 2 weeks. 
We created a validators configuration document
We created a mapping utility for the Ethereum to Cudos Network migration
We had to postpone our Ethermint research and testing because the Cosmos IBC relay is currently not supporting it.
We worked hard on ensuring a Tendermint network can be upgraded once deployed:
Ensuring the chain can keep processing as nodes upgrade to new software.
Ensuring that no state is lost or amended during an upgrade.

We had another great week here at Cudos. We had an insightful “ask me anything” (AMA) live stream with Cudos Founder and CEO, Matt Hawkins. Matt spoke with the CryptoGeek community, with over 29,629 members! Needless to say, the stream was a great success, and Matt answered some exciting questions provided by members of the Chinese Cudos community.

Here’s what we worked on last week.
We found and fixed an issue with the Gravity bridge startup procedure
We redeployed the public-testnet orchestrator.
We worked on describing and deciding on the network gas configuration.
We were defining server requirements. 
We worked on ensuring we could upgrade the whole Cudos Network once deployed.
We added support for automatic batch creation based on a set of parameters.
We mapped a smart contract code review.
We worked on UX/UI requirements preparation for the Migration UI. 

Elrond started an exciting collaboration with Cudos, a decentralized cloud computing network used by 300,000 businesses and individuals in over 145 countries.

After months of hard work, we are delighted to let you know that we’ll be launching our incentivised testnet, Project Artemis, in the coming weeks. The goal of this project will be to reward developers and other users of our network just like you for your valuable contributions

Here’s what we’ve been working on over the last two weeks.
We completed the Cosmos SDK upgrade to v0.43. Here are some details: 
All tokens can safely be staked without worrying about MaxVotingPower. 1 CUDOS = 1 Voting Power.
We migrated the Wasm module from the original GitHub one to provenance to support SDK 0.43.
We migrated the Gravity bridge to a new SDK. We are waiting for official support.
We upgraded our custom modules to support SDK 0.43.

Last week:
We continued testing and researching the migration of the existing Validators and Delegators to the main-chain.
We added support for X <-> Y decimal digit token transfer in the Gravity bridge. (Note: We’ve briefly paused this due to the Cosmos software development kit (SDK) update as decimal reduction might no longer be required.)
We fixed the batches’ timeout calculation.
We calculated AverageBlockTime instead of using it from a parameter.
We started the update of the explorer libraries. (Note: This update will solve issues with the precision and visualisation of numbers in the Explorer.)

Keplr is an open-source browser extension wallet that supports the Cosmos interchain ecosystem. It provides functionalities for account and wallet management for all Cosmos-SDK based blockchains.

PoS has been around since 2012. It emerged as an alternative to Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism. Compared with PoW, PoS requires less computational power and therefore less energy. So, it is gentler on the environment.

Back in 2019, our relationship with James and the team at Crypto AM was born over a late-night McDonalds following an investor event in Zurich. The portions that night, whilst tasty, didn’t quite meet our expectations. So, a whole swathe of the guests made their way for a midnight snack. How fortunate that was in retrospect.

Here’s what we did this week and last!
We started work on removing the need for re-approval once you’ve completed the Approve CUDOS transaction for
We updated the mainnet hardware requirements.
We created the initial documentation for the migration of Validators and Delegators from the existing staking contract to the new chain from.
We started researching the Gravity Bridge slashing policy.
We added support for different decimal digits in Gravity Bridge aiming to reduce the current 18 digits to 6.

Cudo, the team behind the Cudos Network, announced today a technology partnership with Accubits and its blockchain and artificial intelligence-focused subsidiary, Future Tech. The partnership aims to speed up the adoption of the Cudos Network

The computational needs of a tech-driven world put an enormous ecological strain on the planet. Theoretically, cloud computing could reduce this impact through more efficient use of resources and partial reliance on renewables.

Cudos signs an agreement with HODL, a cryptocurrency themed TV drama series airing in 2022 and Sator, a new TV fan engagement token set to launch in August 2021. HODL (Hold On for Dear Life) follows the journey of a young entrepreneur launching a new blockchain project and cryptocurrency, Aveer, named after the best friend who has disappeared.

Progress since last week:
The staking platform was officially released in the Ethereum mainnet.
Validator names were added in the staking UI. The update also includes the support of emojis, which are being used to add country flags next to the names.
Tooltips were fixed and updated across the staking platform.
We added profiles to Rinkeby and Mainnet.

Almost ⅔ of all cloud infrastructure comes from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, or Google. This high concentration could mean that competition within the marketplace is decreasing. Decreasing competition can be problematic for many reasons. Cudos’ decentralised cloud network can help overcome these issues.
